2017 will be remembered as the year of the biggest sex scandals, because so many accusations have never been fired and almost simultaneously in so many work settings.

The case that gave courage to more victims to talk about the subject was that of Harvey Weinstein, the producer who founded the powerful Miramax film studios with his brother. When in the fall The New York Times published that he had abused several women, perhaps not even the staunch of his critics imagined that he was shooting a pandora's box: More than sixty women came out to accuse him and some even of rape.

A few days later similar accusations arose against Kevin Spacey, which caused one of the most successful series on television, House of Cards, to have to suspend filming for several weeks, due to the number of young people who came out to report the abuses to which he allegedly subjected them. In the process, the mother of one of his victims called him a pedophile in a tweet.

The world was stunned to see how more and more names of famous actors and producers would have been involved in this type of behavior and, among the accused, were: Dustin Hoffman, actor Steven Segal and director Brett Ratner, among others.

Another scandal that left the world stunned was that of the doctor of the United States Gymnastics Team, Larry Nassar, who 130 women, including several members of the Olympic Gymnastics Team of this country, accused him of having sexually assaulted them, even when they were minors. Among its famous victims are champions McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas. His sentence will take place next January.

The world of politics was no stranger to the issue, and while several United States senators were accused by some members of his team of improper conduct, surprising accusations arose against former President George HW Bush, who at the age of 93 immediately sent messages apologizing for having fiddled with some citizens when photos were taken with them.

In the news world, several heads rolled, but two of the most notorious cases were those of veteran journalist Charlie Rose, who was part of the CBS news team, and Matt Lauer, the now presenter of the NBC program "Today". They both apologized and admitted that they were partly to blame for those allegations, and both also lost their jobs.

Between accusations of sexual assault, lawsuits and apologies, 2017 will be remembered with the year that made us ask: But by God! What is going on in this world?
