Police in the Texas town of Bedford reported that 14-year-old Kaytlynn Cargill was killed by an acquaintance while trying to buy marijuana.

According to People magazine, authorities arrested a 16-year-old boy from Fort Worth High School on the murder charges. So far, the teenager remains in jail and has posted bail for evidence text messages and other cell phone data to find out what happened to the young woman.

Kaytlynn reportedly met the suspect in the pool of an apartment complex near his home to obtain marijuana and escorted him to the boy's apartment.

A technician who studied the crime scene found blood splatters along the hallway and on the suspect's bathroom and bedroom doors.

Blood was also found on kitchen blinds and a glass sliding door knob. In addition, a hammer was found at the crime scene that allegedly had traces of Cargill's DNA.

"Members of the Bedford Police Department have met with Kaytlynn's family and reported her arrest," police said in a statement. "The minor was detained and taken to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center in Fort Worth."

So far, the suspect has not commented on the accusations he faces and there is no information on whether he already has a defense lawyer.
