In an unusual case, a teacher from the state of Texas denounced the Pearland city police to one of her students, who is only 6 years old and suffers from Down syndrome, for allegedly having "terrorist" tendencies.
According to local FOX affiliate KRIV, the boy's father, Maher Suleiman, was stunned by the teacher's accusations of his son Mohammed, a situation he called "stupid" and "discriminatory".
"The teacher says that he is a terrorist," he explained.
The teacher who denounced little Mohammed at CK Harris Elementary School was not the incumbent and was making a substitution. She reportedly called the emergency line after the boy allegedly repeatedly said the words "Allah" and "bomb." ÑÖÝÕÞ | ç_w-úíÇ: iÞüqšÙýøÓÞÚÓý
"This is very stupid, it is discrimination," said the indignant father. "Mohammed was born with Down syndrome … he doesn't speak."
"The past three weeks have been the most difficult of my life," said Maher Suleiman, who noted that her family has had to face an investigation by the Pearland Police Department and another by the Child Protective Service because of the complaint by teacher.
Local police appear to have found no reason to continue their investigation, but the case is still open. "A few days ago my wife and my children were crying, I told them everything will be fine," she added.
