Police in Port St. Lucie, FL, told People magazine that early Monday morning they took the lifeless body of a 4-year-old girl missing from a holding pond, a few blocks from her home.
Chelsea Noel disappeared on Saturday night, which started an extensive search for the little girl.
According to the police, she walked out of her house.
A local report detailed that Chelsea was a child with special needs who was unable to speak and that police believe she became disoriented after leaving her home.
Law enforcement officers believe he ran straight into the pond, according to the Sun-Sentinel newspaper.
The uniformed officers told People magazine that the Martin County Sheriff's Office, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, the FBI and the Florida Police Department joined the Port St. Lucie Police in the search for the girl.
Chelsea was searched door to door. The vacant lots and ponds were also inspected.
Police confirmed that late Sunday night, a kayak search team found a small submerged body.
