Jeremy Main, a resident of Lady Lake, Florida, a city about 50 miles from Orlando, faces charges for the cruel murder of his 17-month-old daughter.
According to the Orlando Sentinel newspaper, the 38-year-old accused had problems with his wife Holly, whom he telephoned with a macabre news: he confessed that he had just drowned their daughter, Makenzie.
The terrified woman called the authorities, who immediately went to the Main house. There they found the small victim floating face down in the bloody water of the bathtub. The father was not with her.
Half an hour later, the horrendous crime suspect entered the local sheriff's office and turned himself in. "I killed my daughter and I couldn't commit suicide," she said, still with bloody wrists. During the interrogation, he also confessed that he was separating from his wife and that this had contributed to his actions.
Some relatives of the alleged murderer were surprised with what happened. His sister Marnee Weakley described him as a family man incapable of having committed this act of violence. "I could never, in a million years, guess that it would harm her children," he said.
For her part, the inconsolable mother turned to her Facebook page to mourn the loss of her daughter. "I will always love you my always sweet baby Makenzie Moira Main … rest in peace, my loving baby."
Main is in jail without bond. Their next court date will be on November 6 in the company of a public defender.
