Michigan police reported that one boy accidentally shot two others at a daycare located in a Detroit suburb.

Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in the preliminary investigation that the boy had access to a gun and fired it around 10:20 am Wednesday, according to Time.

The injured children are believed to be 3 years old and have been hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Haddad said the gun the boy shot was kept in the Dearborn home, west of Detroit, where the daycare operated. Other children were at the property at the time of the shooting, who were taken to the police station to be reunited with their parents.

The shooting remains under investigation. No one has been charged.

For now, the authorities have not specified what type of firearm it is or how the minor accessed it. A neighbor of the nursery told local channel WILX 10 that he had already complained to the city about what was happening at the neighboring house.

"I've seen [the little ones] in the backyard playing in diapers," said Carol Rittenbarry. “There are like five or six children at a time out there. Sometimes just another child, the older ones watch over them.”
