It seems that the so-called trolls of social networks wanted to give the coffee giant Starbucks and some of his followers a bad time, since for a few days a controversial and false advertising campaign has been circulating on social networks in which discounts were offered to undocumented immigrants residing in the United States.
The non-existent initiative was called "Starbucks Dreamer Day" and ensured that "undocumented Americans would receive a 40 percent discount on menu items."
"Help Starbucks fight intolerance," reads a line included in one of the ads that circulates with the logo of the renowned company. The bogus campaign also included the hashtag #BorderFreeCoffe.
"Sorry but they have been misinformed. Starbucks is not sponsoring any such event. Please share this misinformation, "replied the company through its official Twitter account to a user who posted the promotion.
Another of the false announcements that also circulate on the networks adds in the same way that the so-called Starbucks Dreamer Day will take place next Friday, August 11. "Use the UNAFRAID coupon (fearless) to receive a free Grande drink at any store," read the bottom of this ad.
Although the origin of the false promotional posters of the campaign is uncertain, a report shared by The Huffington Post assures that these originated on the online platform known as 4chan, where users also suggested calling immigration authorities to participate in this boycott against Starbucks.
