In a painful string of tragedies, three young Florida children were orphaned when their father and mother passed away a few days apart.

According to the Associated Press, on July 11, Jevaughn Suckoo, 26, was shot and killed in the West Palm Beach apartment complex where he lived with his partner, Stephanie Cáceres, and their nearly two-year-old daughter.

The police have not yet identified the person or persons responsible for the shooting.

Three days later, while her funeral was being held, Cáceres died in the hospital's intensive care unit where she had given birth 10 days earlier to the couple's twins, Jevaughn Jr. and Lailah. The cause of death was an infection contracted during delivery.

As a consequence, the twins and their sister were orphaned by father and mother in a matter of days. So family and friends have started a fundraising campaign to help the little ones.

Cáceres, 27, has worked in an office at the Juan E. Bautista pediatric clinic for four years, where friends and co-workers met last Thursday to accept donations, the Palm Beach Post reported.

"We are trying to see how we move forward from now on," Joni Saunders, Suckoo's aunt, told the newspaper.

Lina Niemczyk, Cáceres' supervisor, has launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds to finance the raising of the three brothers. So far they have raised about $ 33,000 and the goal is to reach $ 50,000.
