A Colorado father was arrested for the death of his missing son five years ago when visiting him for Thanksgiving.

According to People, young Dylan Redwine disappeared without a trace after his father, Mark Redwine, picked him up from the Durango-La Plata County Airport on November 18, 20102 to spend the Thanksgiving party together.

The 13-year-old boy, who apparently did not have a good relationship with his father, had been forced to visit his father to comply with a court order issued amid a bitter court dispute between his parents for his custody.

According to the documents of the case reviewed by the magazine, Dylan did not want to live with his father, he was upset by the tension situation that his family was experiencing and had commented having seen "compromising photos" of his father that he was not supposed to have viewed.

The first alarm signal about the minor's disappearance was given by a friend with whom he had made plans to meet the day after his arrival and who was surprised when the young man missed the appointment and did not reply to his messages. When his whereabouts were still unknown, his mother Elaine Hall reported his disappearance.

Initial investigations found traces of Dylan's blood in his father's home and the dogs identified his scent in his pickup truck. A year later, on a mountain trail that the accused supposedly knows, the boy's remains were found.

Redwine denied at all times any responsibility for her son's disappearance and went to a national television show to proclaim his innocence.

New remains of the teenager appeared in 2015 when hikers found his skull on the same mountain, which forensics later determined that he had received two blows with a knife.

In their report, the authorities also indicate as evidence of crime the statement of the defendant's ex-wife that on one occasion he threatened her that she first killed her son before losing custody and another of a half-brother of the disappeared person in which the Father noted that they would have to find the entire body before the cause of death could be determined.

It remains unclear, People noted, what led investigators to finally arrest Redwine on the charges of second-degree murder and child abuse. The defendant remains behind bars in Bellingham, Washington, pending his extradition to Colorado.
