Eileidh Paterson, 5, a terminally ill patient, was able to fulfill her dream of “marrying” her best friend dressed as a princess in a fairy tale ceremony before she died.
The story published by People explains that Paterson passed away at 11:45 am on July 1. Her mother, Gail Paterson explained through her Facebook account, that the girl had given "her last breath surrounded by her family and hugged a blanket."
"We are disheartened," Paterson, 41, told People. "Losing Eileidh has left a hole in our lives and we are going to miss her forever," he added.
The note explains that the funeral ceremonies held in the United Kingdom were fit for a princess. Also, the attendees were dressed as superheroes and princesses. Eileidh, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma three years ago, was receiving treatment to prolong her life, her mother said.
But how was the ceremony for this princess? Eileidh had communicated her wish to marry her prince charming. So, her family from Forres, Scotland, arranged a ceremony last month so she could "marry" her best friend, 6-year-old Harrison Grier.
"It was really magical. She has three sisters who were the bridesmaids and princesses, a cousin and a friend like the florist, "said Paterson. In addition, she added that "the groom's knights and superheroes were Harrison's brothers and the fantasy ceremony was performed by the Fairy Godmother," added Eileidh's mother.
The act to please the girl's last wish was held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center in Scotland.
