A young woman of just 18 years, identified as Joanna Marisela Delgado, died on Sunday night in California after giving birth to her baby girl, just moments after she was involved in a deadly traffic accident.
According to a report from the New York Post online site, Delgado was driving his car through the 145 state portfolio in the Fresno County area when he collided head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle, Adriana Solorio Romero, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The authorities who attended the emergency noticed the pregnancy of Delgado, who was in her third trimester, and decided to carry out a cessation at the scene of the accident to save the baby's life. Moments after the baby was born, her mother lost her life.
The girl and another passenger, a 10-year-old boy accompanying the deceased teenager, were rushed to a dercano hospital. Sadly, the baby died on Monday, while the little one is still hospitalized and in critical condition.
“It is never easy when it comes to car accidents. But seeing the premature birth of a baby and knowing that he has injuries that can be fatal as a result of the accident breaks your heart, said Sgt. Mike Trenhomlm, a member of the California Highway Patrol and who was one of the first to attend the emergency, as reported by a local ABC News affiliate.
A dog was also reportedly traveling in Delgado's car, which also lost its life after the collision.
