Ivanna Krekhtyak, a Connecticut state resident mother, reportedly killed herself after strangling her 8-year-old daughter to unconsciousness.
As revealed in a People magazine report, when the minor regained consciousness last Saturday morning after her mother's attack, she found Krekhtyak's lifeless body in one of the rooms of his residence in the town of Fairfield..
After finding her mother lying on the floor, the girl ran for help to the house of a neighbor, who immediately called the police.
Authorities in charge of the investigation believe the 36-year-old mother decided to commit suicide thinking that she had murdered her daughter. "All the evidence at the scene is consistent with this," said Robert Kalamaras, a Fairfield police lieutenant. "It is a very sad thing," he added.
Kalamaras also confirmed that the little girl had physical samples on her neck and face from her mother's attack. The girl also added that the assault against her occurred on Friday night.
The authorities assured that after the sad event, the girl is in “stable condition” and is recovering in an area hospital, where she receives treatment for the injuries that were caused during the strangulation.
A report by the local newspaper The Connecticut Post revealed that it is not the first time that the family is the protagonist of such a tragedy. In 2015, Krekhtyak's husband also reportedly committed suicide.
