A Stranger Burned His Face On His Birthday

Resham Khan, 21, was attacked with acid by a stranger while riding in a car with her cousin in London.

On the day of the terrible event, Khan was coming of age; I would be 21 years old. However, what started as a fun ride ended in real tragedy.

"On my birthday, my cousin and I went out in the car in the morning, listening to music and relaxed as cousins do, enjoying it as he was already 21 years old," she said on her Twitter account.

When his cousin, who was driving the vehicle they were traveling in, stopped at a light, a man of unknown identity threw acid at both of them. In the face of the brutal attack, the desperation of Khan and his cousin was such that they both got out of the vehicle, undressed and asked for help, according to the New York Post.

However, no one immediately came to his aid. Khan, who documented and narrated his odyssey with great courage, argues that no one helped them for a period of at least 45 minutes.

Finally a driver stopped and took them to the hospital. Khan was taken to an intensive care room where she healed serious wounds on both her face and skin. Her cousin had to be put into an induced coma after the severity of his injuries, Khan says. The young woman, who had just returned from Cyprus after a year of exchange, still does not understand how such an atrocious act happened.

I'm devastated. I keep wondering if my life will be the same again,”he warned.

The young woman's friends created an account to help her with medical expenses through the GoFundMe page.
