After being burned by her ex-boyfriend two years ago, Judy Malinowski has died as a result of the injuries she received during that tragic event.
Malinowski's mother, Bonnie Bowes, confirmed to the NBC4i newscast that her daughter had passed away, according to People magazine. “That girl suffered for two years to tell her own story. Who has the strength to do that?”Said the mother of the occisa.
The NBC4i newscast indicates that Malinowski, 33, underwent 60 operations and remained in hospital for two years after her ex-boyfriend, Michael Slager, soaked her with gasoline and then set her on fire in August 2015. At the time, Slager claimed to love his girlfriend and said what happened was a "horrible accident," the Associated Press reported.
People states that a witness to what happened contradicted Slager's statements. The witness explained that the couple was arguing moments before Malinowski was set on fire. It was even said witness who reported it and asked 911 for help. That same person also indicated that Slager used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
Malinowski was the mother of two girls, who had to wear white capes and gloves to visit her in her hospital room. It was the same for her mother - who remained at Malinowski's side during these two years - and was the one who offered statements to the press. Slager is in prison serving a 10-year sentence.
