England woke up on Wednesday morning to the sad news of a new tragedy. This time a large fire in a London residential building would have killed at least 12 people, a number that could increase in the coming hours, according to information shared by authorities.

A report shared by CNN's online site adds that the fire would have started around 1:00 am local time on the fourth floor of the 24-story, 120-apartment building.

An approximate number of 40 vehicles and 200 members of the city's fire department have reportedly attended the emergency to try to counter the fathoms, which in a matter of hours completely consumed the huge building located west of the English capital.

Reports add that 78 people have reported injuries after the raging fire, of which 18 are in critical condition. Witnesses who were present at the scene, say they saw people jumping from the windows of the building and others begging for help to save the children.

Images of the dramatic moments lived by the inhabitants of London have been shared through social networks by multiple users who witnessed what happened.

The tragedy of the fire adds to the difficult moments that the United Kingdom has had to experience in recent weeks, as it has been the target of three terrorist attacks.

On March 22, a 52-year-old man hit 50 people with a car in the area of the famed Palace of Westminster in London, then killed a police officer with a knife. Two months later, on May 22, a suicide bomber exploded at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, leaving 22 fatalities and 119 injured.

On July 3, three men in a van hit multiple pedestrians and then attacked with knives people who were passing through the areas of the well-known London Bridge and Borough Market. 8 people lost their lives and 48 more were injured.
