A murder and suicide case leaves a 5-year-old girl and her parents dead. The New York Post reports that a father entered her ex-wife's luxurious home, beheading her ex-partner and slaughtering her 5-year-old daughter before committing suicide. The man hanged himself with a rope in the girl's room. The three were reportedly found dead in their home at 151 W. 121st Street. Authorities went to the house when Jennifer Schlecht and her still husband Yonathan Tedla, who were separated, did not arrive in court for a divorce hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

The woman's brother called New York police that night, asking them to go investigate, and at 9:20 pm the authorities found evidence of the chilling crime. Investigators suspect that Tedla, 46, killed Schlecht, 42, first, cutting her throat with such force that the woman was beheaded. The man is also suspected of killing his 5-year-old daughter, cutting her neck. A knife was found at the crime scene. Officers told The New York Post that the parents were in the midst of a conflicting divorce.

According to sources, the mother had obtained a restraining order against her husband in 2016. Schlecht worked in humanitarian works around the world, fighting for the rights of women and children. Neighbors were shocked, saying they had talked to parents several times and did not appear to be going through a marriage crisis. May they rest in peace.
