A farmer from a town near Buffalo, in upstate New York, was in for a big surprise on Wednesday morning when he discovered Cyrus Kouandjio, a player on the Buffalo Bills football team in the NFL.
The Buffalo News reported that the farmer immediately called 911 to report that there was "a big man" on his property. When the police arrived, they found the 6-foot-6-inch, 311-pound athlete, walking the fields in T-shirts and underwear.
When the officers tried to get close, he yelled at them, "Shoot me."
Despite his strange behavior, the police noted that Kouandjio appeared to be confused and did not feel that he was a threat. In fact, instead of detaining him to take him to the police station, they transferred him to a hospital.
Authorities found the player's vehicle parked near the property he was wandering around and they believe he jumped over a fence to access the field where he was stopped.
The cause of Kouandjio's unusual behavior is unknown, although others say other football players have been involved in similar incidents.
The vice president for health and safety in the United States professional league, Jeff Miller, recognized last year that there is a link between concussions suffered by players on the field and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CET). English), a degenerative disease that includes, among other symptoms, psychotic episodes.
E l entredaor Bills Sean McDermott, he declined to give details about what might cause strange behavior of the player and only said they are gathering information before deciding.
