Little Jonah Hwang loved superheroes, especially Spiderman and Flash, so much that he tried to be a superhero himself.

For Valentine's Day, the 8-year-old crafted custom letters for each student in his class at Cortez Elementary in Pomona, California. When one of his younger cousins was sad, he gave him his beloved lightsaber. And when he got a new watch, instead of putting it away, he gave it to a friend.

"He is the type of person he was," a family friend, Pastor Adam Donner, told People. “In the short time he was here, he really touched us all significantly. He was very dear.”

Jonah, who was adopted from an orphanage in Taiwan less than three years ago, was killed on February 20 by a gunshot while playing at friends' house, which the family went to every week for dinner.

No one else was injured, but five other children were present at the home. Jonah was transported to the Pomona Valley Medical Center where he died.

Jonah's murder remained unsolved until Sunday, when police arrested Sengchan Houl, a 35-year-old trucker, who is being held on bail by the latter."

The four shootings occurred on January 30, February 20, March 7, and March 24, police said. They were shot multiple times each time, but the February 20 shooting was the only time there were people in the house, including little Jonah.
