By repudiating the murder of the 57-year-old communicator, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) revealed that, with him, 122 murders of journalists in Mexico since 2000 have been added - for which reason he asked the Veracruz Attorney General's Office for an investigation exhaustive to locate and punish those responsible for this crime.

According to that entity, of the 122 murders, 20 have been carried out in Veracruz. In its most recent report, the organization Reporters Without Borders described Veracruz as the most dangerous place in America to practice journalism.
