Father Runs Over His Daughter In Front Of His House

Mourning has covered a family with Hispanic roots that this Friday lost one of its young members: little Rochelle Joy Beserra, just 3 years old, who was run over by her own father while playing in front of his house.

According to reports from the Ventura County Star newspaper, on Friday afternoon the little girl was playing on the ramp in front of her house when, at 2:45 in the afternoon, the father of the minor, Anthony Beserra, returned home in her pickup with the one who hit the girl without realizing it.

The little girl's mother, Destiney Aguilar, 30, noticed that the child was lying on the ground and thought she was throwing a tantrum, but then she saw the blood. The parents immediately transferred her to a local hospital, unable to make 911 calls because, they said, they did not carry their cell phones.

Dramatically, their vehicle failed and they had to ask a relative for help. By the time they arrived with the girl at the hospital in the town of Fillmore, she was already in cardiac arrest and attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.

California highway police reported Monday that the day after the accident, the minor's father was arrested for possession of weapons, including a submachine gun, high-powered cartridges, and other ammunition.

Garo Kuredjian, a police captain, said the 39-year-old was released on bail that same night and that charges will be read to him in Ventura County Supreme Court on March 27.

The family, who also has another 19-month-old son, is now facing the hardships of death and the costs that come with it. They have turned to GoFundMe to cope and are raising funds to help pay for the funeral.
