What should have been a beautiful family night for Tristan Beaudette and her two little girls ended up turned into a tragedy that has left the state of California shocked.

The 35-year-old father decided to go camping with his daughters, ages 4 and 2, to the renowned Malibu Creek State Park, which is located on the outskirts of the city of Los Angeles.

The lifeless body of the father of the family was discovered inside the tent in which they camped, a place where the two girls were also found unharmed with their parent.

Although authorities are still in the middle of the investigation to determine what happened, first details of the crime assure that Beaudette was killed with a firearm around 4:45 am last Friday.

"The theory we are working on is that [Beaudette] received the bullet holes inside the store," revealed Los Angeles County Police Chief Rodney Moore. "The girls were inside the store too."

"At this point we are treating it as a homicide … we are gathering all the evidence [but] it will take some time," Moore added of the possible reasons for the crime.

The couple and family relatives are totally devastated after this inexplicable tragedy, even more so when no apparent reason for the scientist's murder has been determined.

"Tristan had gone out to do something he loved, being outdoors with his two little girls," reads part of a letter shared by Beaudette's family in a campaign created on the GoFundMe.com page with the intention of raising funds to help the girls and their mom.
