Federal authorities are investigating whether the fire in a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania home that killed a three-year-old girl could have been caused by a hoverboard or hoverboard that was being loaded, according to some witnesses.

The fire on Friday night left little Ashanti Hughes with severe burns to 95 percent of her little body. The creature was airlifted to the hospital where it died Saturday.

Brian Terline, Head of the Fire Department of that city, indicated that several children who were in the home when the fire started said that they had heard several cracklings coming out of the hovercraft and that shortly afterwards "it exploded into flames".

According to Scott Wolfson, a spokesman for the Consumer Product Safety Commission investigating the case, Hughes is the first and youngest victim to be killed in a motorized skateboard fire in the United States.

This entity has already investigated several cases of burns after hoverboard explosions. In fact, last year about 500,000 of them were recalled. Terline added that these products are “famous for starting fires” - some have overheated when loaded and exploited in flames - and urged their users to stop using unknown brands that do not have the corresponding safety labels.

This is something the deceased girl's grandfather Mark Hughes agrees with: "Just be careful with everything you buy and make sure it works well, because if it doesn't work, this is what can happen."

Two more girls, who are being treated at the hospital, also suffered burns in the fire, but authorities have not revealed their condition. The girl's father and older brother were also treated for inhalation, but were released on Saturday.
