A Pennsylvania teenager accused of killing his friend and posing for a selfie with the dying victim was convicted of a third-degree murder charge.

Maxwell Morton, 16 at the time, allegedly killed Ryan Mangan, also 16, in February 2015, according to prosecutors' arguments, which were rejected by Westmoreland County.

Morton testified last Thursday that he and his friend were playing, pretending to be rappers, with a gun at Mangan's house when he pointed at his friend and pulled the trigger, believing the gun was not loaded.

If Morton had asked the emergency service for help immediately after the shooting, Mangan might have survived, coroner Dr. Cyril Hecht said, according to the New York Daily News.

In the selfie, which Morton sent to a friend in another state using the social network Snapchat, the young man can be seen smiling next to Mangan.

According to Morton's testimony, he who took the selfie to document what happened before he planned to commit suicide. According to the teenager, people think that he is a monster, but that he is actually a "very relaxed type of boy."
