Heather Mack has taken full responsibility for the brutal murder of her mother, whose beaten body was discovered inside a suitcase in the back of a taxi in August 2014 in Bali, Indonesia.
In a series of three videos uploaded to his alleged YouTube channel and under the title "Confession", he gave a last version of what happened. Mack's boyfriend Tommy Schaefer, 22, confessed to being responsible for the crime during the 2015 trial, in which they both faced death penalty charges.
Eventually the young man received 18 years in prison while Mack was sentenced to 10 in Bali prison, Kerobokon, from where he is raising the couple's two-year-old daughter, Stella. “Ever since I was a child I have heard that the truth will set you free. I am Heather Mack and I want to be free. I do not want to live in a lie anymore, confessed the young woman, according to People magazine.
At the time, Mack came to confess that she was out of the bathroom while her boyfriend took care of the beating. However, these new videos mark a new beginning in the investigation. The relationship mother and daughter worsened after the death of the singer singer James Mack and in her confession, the detainee assures that her mother was responsible for the departure of her father.
"At the age of ten my mother killed my father in a hotel in Antenas, in Greece," he says in one of the videos. "Two weeks before I came to Bali, I discovered that she had killed my father and that was embedded in my heart, my mind, my soul, my blood, in the oxygen that runs through my body and I just wanted to kill my mother", keep going.
In the recording, she assures that first she asked her boyfriend for help to commit this crime, something to which he said no. From here on, he claims to devise a plan in which he would include his boy through false conversations, without him knowing it. “I caught him here and that's what I regret. Not having killed my mother. And as demonic as it sounds, it's my reality, he says.
The young woman also claims to have threatened her partner if he did not help her. According to her confession, she had her cleaned and disposed of after the murder. And finally she forced her to confess it. At the end of the video, Mack addresses his daughter's father. Sorry, Tommy Schaefer. I love you, I really love you and if I could take the time back, I would.” The case remains in the hands of the justice system, which carefully studies the prisoner's statements.
