This has been a complicated start to the year for the Chilean galanazo Cristián de la Fuente. First, in early January, his wife Angélica Castro was hospitalized for severe abdominal pain that forced her to go through the hospital in Miami.

Now, the family, who spent a vacation at their country house in Vichuquén, Chile, is suffering from the devastating forest fires that are raging the area.

"The situation is dramatic and it is very difficult to deal with fires that are intentional," the 41-year-old gallant, who currently resides in Miami with his wife and 12-year-old daughter, Laura Isabel, told People en Español.

"The country has mobilized in an incredible way, both civilians and the authorities, the military have protected us (…) more than 250,000 hectares have already been consumed and as it is one of the worst fires in the history of the country," said the actor.

De la Fuente said that apart from the intentional fires, the land has given the perfect conditions for the fires to spread.

“There have been some [fires] that have been due to temperature, especially when the 30-30-30 phenomenon occurs: 30 degrees of temperature, 30 knots of wind and 30% relative humidity of the air. When that happens there is a high probability that fires will occur,”he explained.

But in the case of Vichuquén, which is a nice resting place, "many of them are intentional and the mayor has shown evidence of them," he said.

De la Fuente indicated that this Friday he was leaving for Chile. “As a civilian, you have to help because you need hands, there are people who are tired or who have to go back to work and home. Moving food, water. Helping to repair things, helping like fires, there is a lot to do”.
