Few know what being a child and living in the White House like Chelsea Clinton.

The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton lived part of her childhood in Washington and experienced life in the public eye firsthand, under press scrutiny.

So now that Donald J. Trump has come to power, he has not hesitated to come to the defense of Barron Trump, the new president's 10-year-old son, who has been the target of comments and even memes on social media.

"Barron Trump deserves the opportunity every child deserves to have a childhood," Clinton, 36, said in a tweet that has drawn much attention.

However, Clinton, who is also the mother of two little ones, did not want her solidarity message to be confused by her more than 1.2 million Twitter followers with political sympathy or approval of Trump's plans for the country.

"Defending each child also means opposing the policies of @POTUS [the US president's Twitter account] that hurt them," the former first daughter said to finish her message.

The response of the followers has been swift, with some who describe her as "hypocritical" to the rival who attacked her own mother hard during the electoral contest by the White House.

"Ask the children of Haiti what they think of the Clintons," said an enraged tweeter.

Others came to the defense of Chelsea and gave more than 29,000 “likes” to the message that was published around noon on Sunday.

Chelsea Clinton has a history of years with the Trumps, because in addition to her parents attending the wedding of the new president with the first lady, Melania Trump, she and Trump's eldest daughter, Ivanka, are joined by a friendship of years.

The last time they were seen together was during the second presidential debate, where they were very cordial.

However, in an interview with 20/20 (ABC) that was televised on the Thursday before Trump's takeover, Ivanka admitted that she and Chelsea have not spoken to each other since their parents clashed in the political contest.
