The parents of a 5-year-old girl missing since Monday in Ohio were arrested on suspicion of the girl's murder.

The young victim, Ashley Zhao, was found dead inside Ang's Asian Cuisine restaurant, owned by the parents and located in Jackson town. Authorities said the girl's body was "lifeless and hidden," according to Fox8.com reports.

The girl's mother, Ming Ming Chen, hit her on the head "many times with her right fist", killing her, according to police.

The minor's father, Liang Zhao, became complicit in seeing that the girl had "a green liquid leaking from her mouth," after which he took her to the bathroom to try to clean her. At that moment he realized that he had stopped breathing and could not revive her.

The parents reported the disappearance of the minor and told police that they had last seen their daughter around 4:30 pm local time on Monday.

The couple was arrested Tuesday and the mother is now facing charges of murder and criminal assault, while the father has been charged with complicity in murder and complicity in criminal assault.
