Vidal Guzmán Jr., A radio executive from Minneapolis, has posthumously earned the name of “hero” after he lost his life trying to save his son, Vidal Guzmán III, from drowning.
The Vidal family, who had traveled to Puerto Rico to enjoy the holidays at the end of the year as a family, decided to go swimming at the beach last Monday at around 4 pm Apparently the 19-year-old was swimming on the beach of Manti, about 45 minutes from San Juan, when he began to be dragged by the current offshore, without being able to reach the shore due to the strong waves. Seeing the danger he was in, his father jumped into the water to try to rescue him.
According to Telemundo Puerto Rico, the strong waves did not allow Guzmán Jr., 61, to reach the boy. However, a wave pushed the young man to a rock, where he could hold himself and from there asked for help from other people, who immediately tried to save his father, who did not suffer the same fate.
The older daughter of the deceased, Marieli Guzman, who is 28 years old, had stayed on the shore reading a book. Her rest was interrupted when she saw that several men were coming out of the water carrying another person, she hastened to help them as she is a nurse. Horrified, she discovered that it was her father they were bringing. She immediately administered first aid, but unfortunately her efforts were in vain.
