Authorities investigating the kidnapping, torture and murder of the girl Yuliana Samboní in Bogotá, Colombia, announced that there is a new name implicated in the crime, warden Fernando Merchán Murrillo, an employee of the building where the minor was found.
According to Attorney General Néstor Humberto Martínez, Merchán knew what was happening on the morning of December 4 at the apartment of the architect Rafael Uribe Noguera, who was identified as responsible for the crime.
This has taken a new turn in the investigations, since the warder was found dead on December 10 in what the authorities handle as suicide.
In a video captured by one of the seven security cameras in the building where the crime occurred, it is observed how Merchán and Uribe speak for several minutes in the basement of the building, known as Eqqus 66. The conversation, according to Noticias Caracol, took place at 9:40 am, that is, when the 7-year-old girl was already in the hands of the murderer.
The same authorities indicate that apparently, the warden was involved in a discussion with the brothers of the alleged murderer, Catalina and Francisco, who, after receiving calls for help, came to the building to the aid of their brother.
The doorman was on duty the day of the macabre discovery of the minor. Authorities are now conducting an autopsy to determine if it was an antidepressant overdose that killed him. Merchán is now designated as an "exception witness in the case."
