On October 1, 2017, María Elizabeth Tanús Quiroz, daughter of actor Tony Bravo, was arrested by the police after starring in a fight with her partner, Vicente Vargas Ramírez, who was stabbed to death by the aforementioned woman. Despite the death, during the legal process it was argued that the homicide was carried out in self-defense, because the now deceased had beaten her, threatened to kill her and infected her with HIV. In addition, the man said he would rape the defendant's daughters.

“I only defended myself, he told me that I had AIDS and that he welcomed me to the club. He threatened that he was going to kill me and that he was going to rape my daughters, that he was the devil,”said Tanús Quiroz, at the time, before the corresponding authorities.

According to various media, Tanús Quiroz was sentenced to 13 years and four months in prison plus reprimands. According to the Puebla Superior Court of Justice, Karla Ambrosio, the judge who was in charge of the trial, found her “criminally guilty” for the crime based on kinship committed against her partner after failing to demonstrate self-defense.

María Elizabeth Tanús Quiroz, who lived in Puebla, Mexico, met her partner on Facebook. A few days after Vargas Ramírez moved in with her, the incident occurred.

Although Tony Bravo had declared, a while ago, that his family was living "a nightmare" due to this difficult situation, so far he has not ruled on the sentence.
