At 41 years old, John Bunn was finally able to prove to the United States justice that he is innocent, after being just a young man of 14 he was found guilty of the murder of a man in Brooklyn.

When Judge Shawndya Simpson finally exonerated him, the man couldn't contain his tears of emotion. After the verdict, Bunn merged into an emotional hug with his defense team and then with the magistrate in charge of his case.

"It has been 27 years in which I have been fighting for my life, fighting for my innocence," said John totally moved for the moment. "I didn't deserve anything that you did to me," he said in a broken voice to prosecutors following his case.

In 1991, two officers at a New York correctional facility were shot by men trying to steal the car they were in. One of the uniformed men died instantly from the impacts and the other became the only witness to what happened. The survivor of the attack named Bunn as one of the assailants, as reported by CNN. óÎ9çݺog oÇë-üÛß = kWøå½ÝwÝëŸ;

Despite the fact that the evidence in the case pointed out that the footprints of the alleged criminals did not correspond to those of John, the young man was brought to trial, found guilty and sentenced to prison.

"In just one day they chose the jury, opened the trial, had the witnesses and concluded a murder case; this cannot be called justice at all," said Judge Simpson.

After spending more than 17 years behind bars, in 2009 Bunn was released from prison on parole and has since started a legal battle to have a new trial in which he could prove his innocence.
