Cristiano Ronaldo: His Mother Suffers A Stroke

Dolores Aveiro, mother of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, has undergone an emergency operation after suffering a stroke.

This is confirmed by Portuguese media when reporting that the mother of the captain of the Juventus Club of Turin is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Doctor Nelio de Mendoça Hospital, located on the island of Madeira and close to the town of Funchal where the wife of 65 years resides full time.

According to the local newspaper Jornal da Maderia Aveiro, she is stable and conscious after undergoing a mechanical thrombectomy. This procedure is extremely delicate and was performed to solve the obstruction of the artery that prevented the correct circulation of blood to your brain, according to doctors in charge of the surgery.

As soon as he heard the news, Ronaldo traveled to Maderia to be by his mother's side. Likewise, his sisters Elma and Katia -also living in Funchal- have moved to be next to their mother to be by their side.

Just a year ago, Aveiro revealed that he had breast cancer again. "They operated on another breast in Madrid," he explained to a Portuguese radio program in February. "I have received ratiotherapy and now I am fighting for life." Ronaldo's mother had already suffered from breast cancer: in 2007 she was diagnosed and later underwent treatment in which one of her breasts was removed.
