The assumption of responsibility by the Spanish artist contrasts with the rejection with which he received an investigation by the Associated Press agency in 2018 that revealed an abusive pattern of conduct dating back to the eighties.

Domingo, who has been married to Marta Ormelas since 1962, had already resigned from his leadership position at the Los Angeles Opera when the allegations appeared.

According to the AP, union investigators interviewed two dozen people who acknowledged having been harassed by Domingo or having witnessed inappropriate actions by the opera star.
