During the filming of the second season of the series Without fear of truth, Luis Gerardo Rivera and Jorge Navarro Sánchez lost their lives. Now, Televisa, who was in charge of the project, will have to pay the families of these actors compensation and the funeral expenses incurred as a result of said death; because the safety of the histrions corresponded to that company.

"It is Televisa that must answer whether or not it will give compensation to families," explained Jesús Ochoa, general secretary of the National Association of Actors (ANDA), to the media. “We are a support and, in turn, intermediaries between the company [Televisa] and the families.

Regarding the criticism that this group has received for not taking care of the safety regulations of the histrions, Ochoa assured that this is not their responsibility either because it is the obligation of the productions and companies to apply the corresponding protocols. He revealed that despite efforts as an association, it is up to companies to carry out certain procedures.

"It is not up to ANDA to see about security because this has to do with laws and industry, and companies, of course there are security protocols but they are not carried out," he explained. “The question is to establish them [in contracts] as law. We are trying to strengthen everything, but if unions are not mandatory for companies right now, imagine, being able to impose security protocols.”

Jesús Ochoa hopes that these terrible losses will serve as an example to change the working conditions of the actors in Mexico and also their contractual situation.

"I hope this is a cry and that this tragedy serves to say 'enough' and we must protect ourselves," he concluded.
