Singer Lady Gaga showed her most vulnerable side at an event with Oprah Winfrey in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with total openness about the psychic problems she has suffered since she was raped when she was 19 years old.

"I was repeatedly raped [by a music producer]," revealed the singer, who said that as a result of this traumatic episode she suffers from mental illnesses such as post-traumatic stress disorder, for which she receives medication.

The interpreter of "Poker Face" explained in the open-hearted interview that not receiving adequate treatment caused her to self-injure by cutting her arms or hitting herself against the wall and led to her suffering from fibromyalgia, a disease that causes severe pain in the muscles and fatigue.

"I had no one to help me, not a therapist, a psychiatrist, or a doctor," she explained. "Suddenly I became a star traveling the world and never dealt with the problem."

Gaga highlighted that her own experience shows that mental health problems must be treated by professionals, they cannot be taken lightly or ignored. In her opinion, there is a need to become more aware of post-traumatic stress and how it affects the brain.

The also actress promised that for this new decade that is just beginning she will dedicate herself more earnestly in the fight against mental illness.

On the alleged romance with actor Bradley Cooper, with whom she starred in A Star is Born, Gaga denied that there was anything between them beyond the good chemistry they showed on the screen, with which "everyone was fooled" until the point of spreading rumors.
