What style and beauty tips have you inherited from your mother?

My mother was a beautiful woman who taught me to love everything about myself since I was very little. The best style advice she gave me was not to be afraid to take risks and above all to love what makes me feel more sure of myself and This is something I hope to pass on to my daughter. Love what you love because confidence and security is your best accessory.

What is your sweetest memory of mother's days when you grew up in Mexico?

What I liked most about Mother's Day was spending time with the family and enjoying an incredible meal and sharing stories. Just being with family is how we celebrated my mother on this special day.

And you, how do you celebrate it with your children in the US?

I love spending the day at home with my children. Our lives are very busy and on this day I like to spend all day with my little ones and my husband doing things together. Whether it's preparing a meal all together or playing board games, I love taking a day to celebrate being a mother with the ones I love the most.

What is the best gift they have given you?

I love everything my children do for me. They are very talented and creative little artists and I love to see their imagination run wild. Every mother's day they have a tradition of making me a delicious rainbow cake. It's my favorite.

For those who still don't have a gift for their mother, what would you advise them to buy?

Mothers deserve to feel beautiful and with jewelry you will never go wrong. Nothing makes a woman feel more beautiful. I think one of the best gifts you can give your mother is to prepare a homemade meal for her. Moms love to be pampered on Mother's Day so let her relax and surprise her by making one of her favorite dishes. She will love it if you take a moment to create a special moment for her.

How does your style change when you are working to when you are relaxing with your children?

I am always running from one side to the other and it is super important for me to feel comfortable but fashionable. [And carry] This kind of busy life has a lot of influence on how I design my collections for Macy´s because I am a mother and I know what women look for when they go shopping: beautiful clothes and accessories that are comfortable and fit her body type to make them feel safe. This spring I have incorporated a lot of fun details like embroidery on the denim so that a woman can bring these designs to a meeting and feel groomed, but also wear it at home during the weekend when she is with her children. I also love playing with comfortable fabrics in my collection. For me it is about versatility when designing and in my own closet.
