Celebrity stylist Marco Peña is in New York to participate in Big Apple Fashion Week and we took advantage of his visit to the offices to ask him to show us how to create a fish braid.

The first thing, to manage your hair, is to create some texture. If it is very straight, create waves with a curling iron or with a little lacquer. You need the hair to have body so that the hairstyle is sustained.

If you already have waves, as in the case of our model, apply an oil to the ends to facilitate hair management and to avoid tangling.

To make a fish or herringbone braid, you need to take two locks in the central part and feed them with tiny divisions on both sides, from left to right and from right to left.

Braids are a very versatile hairstyle, allowing you to look perfect at any event. You can make them bohemian by tousling them, romantic by decorating them with flowers, sophisticated by creating a bun with braided hair. They have infinite possibilities and can be done on any type of hair, even the most curly.

The fish braid does not have to be perfect, the trend dictates wearing them half tousled to give them a modern touch. If we want our braid to be bigger we can loosen the strands. To give it a different touch, Peña decorated the braid with golden rings that gave it a Greek and ultra-feminine air.

To give the final touch to our hairstyle we can use lacquer to control loose hairs, a dry shampoo for a more matte and textured look, or an oil to give a little shine.
