Panamanian celebrity skin care specialist and dermatologist Shino Bay Aguilera, author of the book Be Young, shares 4 basic tips that will make you feel better about yourself inside and out.
1. Drink lots of water
“Our body is made up of 70% water, it is the main ingredient of blood, lymph and the other fluids that circulate in our body. Since the skin is the largest organ in the body, it needs constant hydration to function properly; not only to avoid infections, but also to fulfill other functions such as eliminating toxins, regulating temperature and producing hormones. Well-hydrated skin is synonymous with health and beauty."
2. Rest as much as you can
“While we sleep, our skin repairs itself. Collagen production, which reduces the amount of moisture our skin loses, skyrockets, which is why we are literally getting our beauty sleep. We can usually tell if someone has had a bad night looking at their skin."

3. Take L-Theanine
“It is extracted from green tea, it is a natural stress reducer and increases the feeling of well-being 20 minutes after taking it, [because] it produces dopamine, which is the hormone of happiness. It is believed to be vital for some functions of the body, such as the ability to focus, sleep, the strength of the immune system and even the control of blood pressure."
4. Meditate in the morning
“Do a meditation to give thanks and reflect on the past. All the experiences of your life have brought you to this point. When you face a difficult situation in your life, find a quiet place, close your eyes and relax your mind. Inhale and think 'the universe loves me and supports me.' Exhale 'I no longer feel anxiety and frustration or fear before this situation'. We cannot avoid the difficult times in life, but we can learn to transform fear and anxiety into love and courage. This is how your spirit grows bright and strong in this kingdom."
