This 2018 looks like an eventful year for Prince William's family. Queen Elizabeth II's grandson and his wife, Kate Middleton, are expecting their third child. And now, her youngest daughter, Princess Charlotte, has just taken a big step: going to her first day of nursery school.

The two-and-a-half-year-old girl officially started at London's Willcocks Nursery School on Monday. And like all the children in the world, before leaving for school, the adorable little girl posed for her mother to immortalize the moment in photos.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to share with you two photographs of Princess Charlotte at Kensington Palace this morning," a spokesman for the British royal house said in a statement sharing the photos. "These images were taken by the Duchess shortly before Princess Charlotte left for her first day at Willcocks Nursey School."

In the snapshots you can see the little girl dressed in a red wool coat and matching slippers, scarf and pink backpack, going down the steps of the palace. In the second image, he poses seated, with a serene face and a mischievous smile.
