Bárbara Mori lived in 2004 with her leading role in the hit soap opera Rubí, the biggest success of her career to date. Her participation in this unforgettable story made her the artist of the moment. Fame, money … The Uruguayan actress apparently had everything to be happy, and yet she couldn't feel more alone and empty. This was revealed 16 years later by the 42-year-old interpreter in a talk for TED Talks, where the unforgettable Rubí opened her heart and shared her life story in order to be able to help other people through her experience.

"Rubí was the most important project of the moment, it brought me an international projection that I never imagined, she was the owner of those three things that according to society lead you to happiness: she was famous, successful and they paid me very well. However, I arrived In my dressing room, I closed the door, looked at myself in the mirror and started crying. I felt alone, empty, sad, "she said.

"Which led me to have a deep reflection, not all the money, not all the fame, nor all the success will ever lead us to happiness if we are broken inside. My father broke me as a child, his father with his addiction and violence and my mother with her abandonment ", he confessed with courage.

The actress acknowledged that at that point in her career she was experiencing a very strong 'emotional turbulence' that made her believe that she was not worthy of being treated well.

"Growing up surrounded by psychological abuse and beatings, it generated in me the belief that I was not good enough at anything to have deserved the love of my parents and believed that I did not deserve the good treatment of anyone, not even me. I was going through life generating absolutely destructive situations with the decisions I was making, "he admitted.

"Then I understood that to find happiness I had to start looking inside and learned to meditate. And after years of doing deep internal work one day I realized that it was full of behavior patterns and beliefs imposed by my parents, my friends, society … These beliefs gave me an identity throughout my life that pushed me to act many times without realizing that I was building a path that I did not want to build and I also discovered that I did not agree with those beliefs and most importantly, I had the power to change, "he said.

Mori also spoke of the decision he made in his day to be consistent with his dreams after Televisa offered him a juicy exclusivity contract in the wake of Rubí.

"The company sought me out to sign with them in exchange for anything I asked for, beware, it is a tempting offer if what you are looking for is to enrich your pockets and secure your future as many told me at the time. But I have always been true to my dreams, my deepest needs, my desire to continue learning, so I rejected the offer despite all the doubts that were generated in me when listening to the voice of my ego, "he said.
