Family and friends of José Fernández gathered today for the private funeral service of the 24-year-old baseball player, whose untimely death in a boating accident last weekend shocked the world. Those who arrived at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Miami shortly after 1p.m., included Fernandez's pregnant girlfriend, Maria Arias, along with his Marlins' teammates. Singer Marc Anthony and baseball player Alex Rodriguez are also expected to attend.

Yesterday, during a public memorial service, hundreds of mourners lined the streets chanting "José, José," as the hearse carrying his casket drove by on its way from Marlins Park.
