Rául Gónzález is more than happy with his return to Despierta América (Univision). The opportunity came after Ana Patricia Gámez said goodbye to the program for a while and Carlitos Calderón had an accident.
"There were a lot of people in the audience asking me to stay [in the program] and the gangsters were there, and I was very excited when they invited me," says González, who in this exclusive interview with People en Español recognized how difficult it has been for him. He has overcome obstacles to stay strong in his professional career.
"I will always say a phrase that Don Francisco said to me: 'Here the best does not come, here comes the one who endures the most.' It is an endurance race and especially today that television is going through a transition."
That is why González, in addition to having his own radio program, will continue working on another of his passions: theater.
“At 48 years old there are many things to do. I have always said: 'While there are dreams, there is a tomorrow, while there is a goal there is also a tomorrow'”, he says. “I want to continue doing theater, I want to continue focusing on what is in my book, my conferences and workshops. Before I was 51 years old, I came to Brodaway, I decreed it and wrote it down on paper, and that is one of the things that I still have to do.”
There is also his desire to emulate his idols.
I admire the great Venezuelan entertainer Guillermo González, he is an icon in my country. Don Francisco had a very great vision and sensitivity in all this medium, Walt Disney, who is not alive, I have read his biographies. He is a big man”, highlights the avid reader. “I read every day, at least ten pages of a book that motivates me, that gives me impetus. I self-motivate myself.”
