Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán went from being the most feared drug trafficker in the world to an inmate in a United States prison whose image is used by his family to do business with all kinds of items.
After translating his face into articles of clothing, now the curious can drink in the style of the bloody capo with a new craft beer that bears his nickname.
According to media, the daughter of drug trafficker Alejandrina Guzmán Salazar was given the task of creating and developing the beer to pay tribute to her imprisoned father. The drink carries the El Chapo 701 brand, a number that corresponds to the number that Forbes magazine gave him as one of the richest men in the world in 2009.
The beer was presented at the Intermodal convention that was held this week in the Mexican city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, in order to reach other markets.
"The beer has 4% alcohol content, brings malt, rice and honey and is classified as artisanal and the idea is to sell it in breweries that have a wide range of this type of beverage," explained Adriana Ituarte, manager of brand sales.
The beer label includes the face of the Mexican drug trafficker, as well as the logo of the brand and will cost around ra, said Ituarte.
According to Ituarte, the beer cannot yet be commercialized, since the brand owned by Alejandrina does not yet have the necessary permits to do so, since according to the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property, there are other similar registered trademarks.
However, Ituarte announced that the brand's first clothing store will open next February in Guadalajara.
