A former beauty queen admitted sending nude photos of herself to a 15-year-old boy. Ramsey Carpenter-Bearse, 29, who was crowned Miss Kentucky in 2014, confessed in court Tuesday that she sent photos of sexual content to the middle school student. The young American could spend two years in prison.
"As I am the adult and he is a teenager, I accept that I am totally guilty of this situation," he testified in court, as reported by the local channel WOWK-TV. "I am guilty of this crime. I made a serious mistake."
Carpenter-Bearse began working as a teacher in Virginia after ending her reign as Miss Kentucky. According to a statement from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department, "Bearse sent obscene photographs to a 15-year-old boy who was her student at Andrew Jackson Middle School" and was suspended from her position as an educator.
According to official documents obtained by the Associated Press, the student's parents alerted the police when they found photos that the teacher had sent the minor on Snapchat and that he had saved on his cell phone.
Carpenter-Bearse was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2010 and during the event said that she wanted to help raise awareness about this disease and raise funds to help combat this disease. During her reign as Miss Kentucky she was a spokesperson for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The young woman graduated from the University of Kentucky, focusing her studies on special education and conduct disorders. The former teacher is free on bail and will have to return to court in January to receive her sentence.
