The bodies of Kyla Hayton, 20; and her partner, Todd Burkhart, 28, were found in different abandoned buildings in Ohio. The woman was five months pregnant and authorities are investigating the brutal crime. The young woman was found dead in an abandoned home just days after her boyfriend was found dead from gunshot wounds in another abandoned building.

The couple was last seen alive on November 16. Four days later they found their Toyota Corolla car in an impoverished area of Dayton, Ohio. The car had at least one of the windows broken, the Mansfield News Journal reported.

Two days after finding his car, authorities received a clue from someone asking them to search an empty house, that's where they found the body of Todd Burkhart. The man had died after receiving several bullet wounds, Fox 8 reported. The pregnant young woman was reported missing and authorities began searching for her around with the help of trained dogs. Her body was found in another abandoned building and Hayton's death has also been classified as a homicide, but no further details have been released yet.

Mansfield, Ohio police said the two were together when they were last seen alive and "were traveling to Columbus or Dayton." It is unknown why they were found in that remote neighborhood. Mansfield News Journal reported that Larry Rodgers, 30, was arrested on other firearms-related charges. Rodgers and Bukhart knew each other, and the police investigate Rodgers as a "person of interest" in the case.

In addition to the baby they were expecting, the couple has a 4-year-old daughter who was with Hayton's mother and is doing well. The father of the pregnant young woman, Brent Hayton, told the Times Gazette that she had received a text message from her daughter's cell phone on Saturday, but it seemed that she had not written it. The case remains under investigation. May they rest in peace.
