Alondra Getsemani Villaseñor, a Mexican fitness model and trainer, was murdered at her home in Tijuana. The 23-year-old girl was reportedly shot in the head and stabbed multiple times. Alondra's mother found her body Sunday night after going to visit her daughter after worrying when she did not answer several of her calls, El Heraldo de México reported. Lark had already been dead for at least 24 hours, authorities determined. The young woman worked as a trainer in a gym in Tijuana.
Police found a 9-millimeter caliber shell and two small bags apparently containing marijuana at the scene, the newspaper reported. According to witnesses, the alleged murderer fled the house in a red car. So far there are no detainees, a possible motive for the crime has not been revealed and the case is still under investigation.

On her Facebook profile, the young woman identified herself as “single” and published photos of her exercise routines and her healthy lifestyle. She also shared motivational messages, celebrating discipline and having high self-esteem.

A recent report from Here and Now (Univision) emphasized that femicide "is a very serious problem throughout Latin America," with alarming figures. In Mexico, to name just one example, more than 3,600 women were killed in 2018, reported presenter Ilia Calderón. "These are the cases that are known, there are also thousands of missing women," the journalist told People en Español. May Alondra rest in peace.
