Kelly Owchar's family went from happiness to absolute pain in just a few days.

The 30-year-old Canadian nurse had just become a mother again when she was diagnosed with breast cancer that cost her a life a short week later.

Owchar had given birth to her twins, Lauren and Leah, just under two months ago, according to People. However, unbeknownst to him, a hidden cancer had reached the fourth stage and had spread to his liver.

Owchar's sister Rachel Orbanski told the magazine that she hopes her sister's heartbreaking case will serve to urge other women to see a doctor for any symptoms.

"Kelly was a registered nurse [who worked] in childbirth, a health professional, and she didn't even notice the initial warning signs," she added.

Two weeks after giving birth to the girls, the also mother of a 2-year-old boy had written on her blog that she felt extreme fatigue and severe stomach aches, but she let them pass thinking that they could be part of her postpartum depression.. She thought that would happen.

But then she found a lump in her left breast. Since she was breastfeeding her daughters, she thought it was a plugged milk duct. The strange thing was that she felt no pain. After the diagnosis, People says, Owchar only thought about the unfairness of this situation for her children.

So he shared these words. "If anything can come out of my blog, I hope it is the knowledge that cancer affects so many people and in many ways," he said.
