Femicides continue to plague Mexico. Erika Sánchez, 25, left her job at the luxurious Azulik Tulum resort in Quintana Roo on June 15 and was never seen alive again, reported Noticias Telemundo. Her remains were found by authorities about four months later, on October 28. Her mother confirmed that it was Erika's body. “After many months of searching and without knowing anything about it, we finally have news. Unfortunately, my daughter Erika was found lifeless,”said her mother on her social networks. "As a family this is a very sad and difficult situation, so I hope you have a little understanding and respect for what we are going through and feeling at the moment," he added.

According to authorities, Erika's remains were found in Playa del Carmen and no information has been released about her killer. However, it is reported that an ex-boyfriend of the young woman is suspected of the crime and the police are looking for her. "We want to thank all those who helped us in the search and those who shared my daughter's publications," added the mother in her message on social networks.
