Among the list of those responsible for Lenin Ramírez's dedication to singing regional Mexican music is Vicente Fernández. The Sinaloan interpreter assures that it was one of the old bullfights of the so-called Charro de Huentitán -for the horse of the revolutionary Pancho Villa- that he listened to as a child through a reproductive device which led him to want to witness live performance someday.

Unfortunately, Ramírez did not have the privilege of attending any of the singer's concerts before his retirement, but he does not lose hope of meeting him in order to fulfill his dream and take a souvenir photo with the legendary singer.

"I wish I would return [to the stage]," says Ramírez hopefully about Don Chente. "What more could I ask [than] to go to a concert of his. I never had to go to any of his concerts and have a tequila listening to [him] sing a song.”

What he has had is to work hard to position himself among the favorites in this close genre. With his new album titled Seguimos Adelante (Del Records), he hopes to advance one step closer to imitating the career of his legendary idol. However, he is aware that he still has many steps to climb, and claims to be prepared to fight the battle.

The young singer himself is advancing with firm steps, and this Thursday will be a litmus test since he is nominated for the Latin American Music Awards - which will be broadcast by Telemundo - in the Favorite Regional Mexican Album category for the album that put him on the map, Blessed.

"I really feel blessed with what I am experiencing," says Ramírez. "[I] really want to get ahead."

With work and discipline everything is possible. Luck!
