Cameron Ely, the son of famous actor Ron Ely from the series Tarzan, was accused of killing his mother, former beauty queen Valerie Lundeen Ely, at her home in Santa Barbara, authorities said. Cameron, 30, died after being shot by the police. A spokesperson for the Santa Barbara sheriff's office confirmed to PEOPLE that officers arrived at the home Tuesday around 8:15 p.m. after receiving a call to 911.
On the property they found Valerie with "multiple stab wounds". Ron, 81, was at home when the violent incident happened, but had difficulty communicating with the police due to a medical condition that affects his speech. However, he was able to report to the police that another relative had killed his wife at her residence in Hope Ranch.
Upon checking the surroundings of the house, the police found Cameron and described him as a "threat", which ended in the death of the young man at the hands of the officers, who shot him, according to SBCSO reports. The case remains under investigation.
The actor suffered no injuries but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. An autopsy will be performed of Valerie and his son Cameron. Ely family representatives have yet to respond to PEOPLE to offer their reaction after the tragedy. In addition to their son, Ron and Valerie - who married in 1984 - they have two daughters, Kirsten and Kaitland. Both are influencers on social networks and have not yet spoken of the deaths of their mother and brother. May they rest in peace.
